“Financial services should be a natural byproduct of one’s routine procurements…there should be no need for separate action.”
Tom Smith is a co-founder and strategic advisor for TTV Capital. Under his leadership, TTV has been an early investor in Green Dot, Bill.com, Cardlytics, MX, Greenlight, TaxBit, and SmartAsset, among many others.
Throughout his career in venture capital, Tom has excelled in identifying trends and emerging categories. He was one of the first to recognize the importance of advances in stored value, money remittance, alternative and mobile payments, services for the underbanked, alternative loan origination, and payments-as-a-service.
Prior to founding TTV, Tom spent thirty years at IBM, primarily in senior leadership roles. He served as vice president, IBM Americas and general manager, IBM Southern Area. Tom managed business units with large teams and billions of dollars in revenue, and rolled out new products and technologies to many of the largest financial services companies throughout the United States.
Tom is actively involved in the Atlanta community and has dedicated his time to the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, Central Atlanta Progress, the Carter Center, and the Woodruff Arts Center. He received the Armin Maier citizenship award from the Downtown Rotary Club.
